At Sudbury Neighbourhood Centre we provide a full day care experience for older adults who live in the London Boroughs of Brent, Ealing and Harrow. We have a professional care team who will ensure that clients enjoy their day with us and help with any issues that may arise. We pride ourselves on the service we are able to offer day care users, based on nearly 40 years’ experience. We have a lively programme of activities and events at the Centre providing something different every day and we work hard to cater for everybody’s needs and interests.
You can be assured of a warm welcome at the Centre.
Below, is a typical day at the Centre.
Transport service: 9.00am – 10.30am
Daycare clients can access the Centre by themselves, or use our minibus service, which we operate Monday to Friday throughout the year. Our minibuses are fully equipped and have full disabled access and are equipped with a rear wheelchair lift, low side steps to enable access via the side door, and with ample space for seated and wheelchair passengers. We have professional fully trained drivers, and escorts, who will collect you from your home and bring you to the Centre. Our vehicles leave the Centre at 9.00am to go on their rounds and will bring you to the Centre in time for opening at 10.30am.
Arriving at the centre: 10.30am
On arrival, you will be escorted into the Centre and settled in our comfortable Lounge area where staff will offer you a nice cup of tea, coffee, and a snack for breakfast. You will have the opportunity to share your news with the staff and friends, and meet new people as well. This is a lovely relaxed way to start the day, and for many people, an opportunity to catch up on friendships and news. You may have a lot to talk about!
Morning: 10.30am – 12.15pm
Throughout the morning we offer a structured programme of personal and group day care services which are aimed at providing stimulation and socialisation. We have bathing facilities for clients who wish to have a bath or shower at the Centre, and also offer a hairdressing service in our fully fitted salon where our experienced hairdressers can give you a trim, perm, or something more substantial depending on your taste. Once a month we also host a professional chiropodist service and a Wellbeing Clinic, where we can check your blood pressure and sugar levels, and offer advice and support.
We also make a special effort to stimulate our clients throughout the day (morning and afternoon) with a choice of activities which may include:
- Art Classes
- Computer Classes
- Keep Fit
- Chair Yoga
- Dance Well
- Knitting
- Music Therapy

- Special outings and events
Our professional care team are on hand to enable you to access the activities we offer at the Centre each day.
Lunch: 12.15pm – 1.00pm
We serve nutritional and healthy freshly cooked lunches to our day care clients, and the general public served in our hall at 12.15pm. The food consists of a two-course meal which is prepared from fresh produce each day in our kitchen by qualified cooks and is designed to offer you an interesting choice of meat, fish and vegetarian dishes, followed by a healthy dessert. We can cater for special cultural and dietary needs, so please let us know your requirements.
Lunch is served to you in our dining hall by our friendly staff, and for those who want it, we can provide tea and coffee afterwards as well. There is also plenty of time left over to relax amongst friends.
For some daycare users this may be their only hot meal of the day, so we try to give you a special time whilst dining with us.
After lunch: 1.00pm – 2.45pm
Regular afternoon activities follow those described for the morning sessions. We also have a library of large print and talking (cassette) books, plus a selection of jigsaws, which clients are welcome to borrow at any time.
Afternoon tea: 2.50pm – 3.30pm
Following the afternoon activities programme, we provide clients with a refreshing cup of tea, or coffee, and a snack in the Lounge area.
Going home: 3.30pm
The day care session finishes at 3.30pm when the clients go home. Those using our transport service are escorted onto our minibuses and taken home on one of our rounds by our drivers and escorts. The typical journey home is completed by 5.00pm when the minibuses return to the Centre. Clients can also use local Council transport services, taxicabs, Dial-a-Ride or private transport to go home. We are happy to discuss your transport requirements and can advise on alternatives to our own transport service. Please contact the Centre for more information.
